Case Studies: Systems


Challenge

To design an integrated system to manage the maintenance of over $2.5 billion in heavy equipment and fixed plant assets across a dozen sites Australia wide.


Approach

We conducted extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders including the executive manager, senior engineers and the leadership team. We carried out technical and theoretical research to establish best practices for this industry.

We designed management questionnaires for feedback and assessment of the current and future systems and designed workshops to share and cement collective thinking on the best approach.

We also designed technical documentation and communication packages for roll out of the new system across the sites. These included policies, procedures, flow charts and training guides, all designed to make implementation thorough and effective.


Outcome

The system was designed in alignment with the company core values and the overall vision for the business. It encompasses best practice asset management throughout the equipment lifecycle. Elements of the system include the structure of the system itself, management policies, budget and maintenance planning, service delivery, continuous improvement and resource management aspects.

The overall result is improved performance through better synergies across the business.
